Usually it ends with each of us picking shows and forcing the other to listen, as we illustrate our points.

He loves Garcia's guitar sound in the later years... especially 93 for some reason. Overall he likes the "digital dead" sound.

I'm no fan of Garcia's tone in '93 (or the band's performance generally in the '90s), but I think Bob's guitar tone suffered the most in the later years. Brittle and astringent.

I still cringe every time I hear that "car horn" effect. Blecch!

Digital Dead never did much for me.

Perhaps, my post above was out of line; I know the gregulator would not be happy with me:

Subject: this night was magical-no doubt
As much as people bash 90's Dead, I get annoyed with the 70's sometimes as well. Whatever. Make no mistake, this was 'magical' for the 90's or whenever imo. I don't know if i'd say best in the last 3 years... there were a lot of gems in there if you can get past vince/bob cheese fest. The 90s brought us some of the best of the jerry ballads, ever. This night the gem might have been the 'roses'..of course the LSdiamons. And 93 jerry was with it for sure. HCSunshine was big for the time, and of course Box of rain was huge as well. I don't know about best crazy fingers ever, but it was good for the time. I also don't know if I'd say best of any song, I believe it is totally relevant to the time period is how you judge best ever. Guess what, it may seem like it is cool to bash 90s dead but ya had to be there, i GUESS. Seems like a bandwagon thing at this point. Don't hate if you cant relate.

That's my mantra for 2K10: Don't hate if you can't relate.

I assume that review is in re: 3/24/93?

Your previous wasn't out of line... just funny!

Top 10 lists, especially dead related are about as subjective as things get... I'll agree that NC 93 show is a good one, and likely the last time the band played a whole show on any level better than average.

It just ain't no top 10 ever. Period. Whoops I need and iPad...
